I Was Hooked.

How a discovery about lost silk sarees became a decade-long passion, and a collection of over 1,000 vintage textiles transformed into wearable art.

OUR STORY

It all began after I learned that Indian saris/sarees were being burned in order to recoup the precious metals in their gold and silver threads. It seemed like a terrible waste of both silk and art, so out of curiosity, I bought my first sari at an auction.

When the package arrived from India, I opened it, and 15 feet of brilliant orange silk greeted my eyes. It was jaw-dropping gorgeous! I couldn’t wait to buy another, this time in turquoise, and before I knew it, I was hooked.  Over the next decade, I continued to buy vintage and antique silk saris until my collection swelled to over 1,000!

It has taken me several years to pioneer the process of making scarves, as each piece of silk has its own unique characteristics, weight, texture, etc. Furthermore, because the saris in my collection are fifty to a hundred years old, they cannot be reordered or repurchased.  Once I cut them up, they are gone.

From t-shirts to formal weddings, these scarves are guaranteed to wake up everything you pair with them. I’m proud to be part of the fashion-forward movement by turning something vintage into something new. Woven within the fibers of these silk scarves are the stories of women, and now, it’s your turn to add stories of your own.
